Book in Progress

I am currently writing a book with the working title When Old Foundations Crumble: Working with Dreams, Synchronicities and Contemplative Journaling. The book offers readers a guide on how to begin and develop a contemplative writing practice. It includes step-by-step instructions for those not familiar with the process and an introduction to Jungian psychology as it applies to working toward wholeness.

When Old Foundations Crumble is being written for the reader with no knowledge of Jungian terminology per se. It is not about how to achieve enlightenment. Rather, it is being written to help readers find inner meaning, hidden talents, and more soul satisfaction in a world sorely in need of creative, enthusiastic people who have chosen to follow their bliss.

To follow your bliss, in the sense the late mythologist Joseph Campbell gave credence to the term, is to find meaning in the development and use of one’s inherent talents and gifts. Finding meaning begins right where you find yourself, perhaps on shaky ground and feeling stuck, not knowing how to move forward.

Included in the book are writing prompts, resources, and exercises, which helps readers to honestly assess and reflect on what is working or not working in their life. The key to the contemplative journaling process is to allow what comes to mind, raw and unfiltered, without self-judgment, and write about it. The premise is that once a person has developed a relationship with her inner thoughts in trust and quiet reflection, she can take steps to further create the life that is hers to live.
